Essential Factors For A Fabulous Bedroom Design

Essential Factors For A Fabulous Bedroom Design , Home Interior Design Ideas , http://homeinteriordesignideas1blogspot.com/

Home Interior Design Ideas , With regards to interior design, there are specific factors that are always existing regardless of the use of the area is. Allow us to take a look at the smallest design elements a space should have in order that it is described as a comfy and usable space.

1- Dimensions in the interior design of an area.

The term "dimensions" is definitely utilized in the design field. Each and every interior area that is being utilized by people ought to be proportionate. Dimensions are incredibly crucial in just about any design.

Each and every 3 dimensional item has attributes for instance length, width and height. Whenever these Three are in compliance with the ratios of numerous parts of human body we name it a "proportionate" design.

For instance a handle of a closet should have dimensions in a way that our fingertips can take it correctly for comfortable and easy action. Or perhaps a chair seat should have enough are so that individuals can sit on in a relaxed manner. Again the kind of seats will alter the dimensions of the seat. A chair in waiting reception of a bank will be different than the usual sofa.

So dimensions have a determining role in interior design as well as furniture in your bedroom should also follow these rules. The sizes of the double bed, its height from floor level, height of closet, sizes of dressing table, etc...each one of these matter as far as functionality is concerned.

2- Great Provision Regarding Addition Of Accessories for enhancing Interior design.

Accessories in a bedroom possess equal significance. When all the other factors mentioned previously are relatively met what exactly remains is the utilization of accessories which will make a great deal of difference in the level of comfort of the habitants.

a) The initial and also the most crucial is a great provision of synthetic illumination. This consists of typical lighting along with unique decorative illumination for decorative reasons.

b) Unique provision for furniture and bed linen. Small particulars for instance drape rods, provision for bed canopies could make the area more attractive.

c) Utilize components which are simple to clean and preserve. As an example if you use PVC floors sheets along with regular tiled floors, is it easily cleaned? Think about what will happen in case your child employs it as a painting paper …. Home Interior Design Ideas .

A Tale of Two Kitchens

It is always interesting to me to see how different two similar spaces can look. I wanted to share with you this wonderful restoration of an Edwardian Duplex in San Francisco by Marsh and Clark Design. By altering the choices of cabinets, furniture and lighting these nearly identical kitchens each become unique spaces. Designer, Stephanie Marsh Fillbrandt created the first kitchen in a more formal tone with ebony cabinets, marble backsplash and marble counters.
The second kitchen in lighter tones has a more relaxed look. Notice that the space and layout are almost the same but the feel is very different.
This first unit lacked a formal dining room. In this case, it was important to have the dining area and the kitchen itself, take on a more formal atmosphere. The lighting and furniture choices are more dressy and sophisticated. Notice the upholstered chairs, chandelier and pendant lights, all would be equally at home in a dining room.
I love the contrast of the white marble against the dark cabinets. Also notice the steel counter stools. I love the sleek contemporary feeling of this space.
The other unit had a formal dining room, so the kitchen was designed to have a more relaxed, informal feeling. By choosing warmer wood tones and wall colors you immediately can see this space has a completely different feeling than the kitchen above. It is interesting to note that the backsplash and counters are the same marble as the kitchen above.
Rattan and wood chairs, small pendant lights and textured shade chandelier give the kitchen a more warm and relaxed feeling. Here you peek into the dining area. The side area of this kitchen doubles as a wet bar for the dining room. This is a wonderful example of changing wood tones, lighting and furnishings and transforming two almost identical kitchens into two very different spaces. Finally, after a short hiatus to spend more time this summer focusing on my family, bi-weekly posts at Willow Decor will begin again in September. Recharged, reshed and more inspired than ever! Exciting things lie ahead!! Glad to be back!!

Decorating a shared space Living Dining Room

I hear a lot of people asking how to set the layout of a room where the Living room and Dining room are sharing the same space.
In todays house, it is common to see the Shared Space Design as oppose to two separate rooms, one for living and the other for dining.
ieces furniture
How can you decorate it and still keep it separate? Every room is different, I cannot give you a generic answer. Something that will work for one space may not work for the other, but I will do my best to give you guidelines to better assist you laying out your room.

First things first...Figure out what your needs are
Do you entertain a lot? Do you need a big dining table or will a small expandable table be enough? Do you have a breakfast area in the kitchen, maybe there is no need for another dining area? Is there going to be a TV at the living room? etc. etc.

Second, measure your room.  If you can, sketch it on a piece of paper.
Remember to include the measurements of all walls, doors and windows in your sketch (to scale).
Sketch your furniture (again, to scale) on a different piece of paper, cut them and experiment with them in different positions on your plan (you can also do this on your computer if you know how to use a simple drawing program). This sketch (your floor plan) is also helpful for when you go and select your furniture.

Third, if the room is not in a rectangular shape, consider using the smaller area for the dining area.

Small room dedicated for both purposes -

a mirror is placed above the fire place to give the illusion of bigger space

For a rectangular shaped room look for the architectural cluesin the room. For example a fire place is usually the anchor for the Living room; Bay windows can play a part in defining the Dining room. Where is the kitchen in relating to the room, you dont want to go through the entire space just to serve food...; and so on and so forth.

After you figured out the designated space for each area, here are some ground rules to decorate them.
Try and design the areas so there is an anchor with light and an area rug. Have a chandelier above your dining room table to define its space.

Create focal point, or emphasize an existing one to make the illusion of separation. For example, if there is a fire place, decorate the living area around it.

You can also use glass-top table  with clear chairs to visually expand the space and make it feel bigger and less clutter.

Furniture position - This is a tricky one. Some will say, face the big sofa with its back to the dining area.

Luxury Room at Inter Continental NY

The sofa will create a visual separation between the areas, not everybody like this idea and they want to keep the flow of the open space design, nothing here is written in stone it can work both ways (In a long rectangular room I would avoid it).
If you do use the "floating sofa" design, place a console behind it to use for storage to serve both zones.

Whatever you do, do not clutter the room by trying to force too many pieces of furniture into it, and always leave enough space around the furniture for people to move freely.

Last but not least, at your design you have to remember that both areas share the same space. You want to pick up furniture and accessories that will give a cohesive look. Try and avoid using too many different colors and shapes.

A Sea Captains Home Revamped for Today

When the owners of this Maine home purchased it, the house was in a state of disrepair. But they knew the house, built in by sea captain Ambrose Childe between 1855 and 1862, would be the perfect summer retreat for their bustling family.
They hired one of my favorite architects/designers, Linda Banks, to renovate and restore the home they called "Big Pink". Linda drew inspiration from the homes seafaring past. To honor the history of the house and its location, she chose an earthy palette of blues, greens and taupes and accessorized with Audubon prints and nautical items.
The salon above was filled with historic details like the intricately carved frieze over the door, gothic door panel and original mercury glass door knobs. These details were painstakingly preserved. Notice how much texture the jute rug brings into the room.

Through the salon you can see the dining room above. Linda keeps the old home looking fresh with a mix of armillary style chandelier and heirloom antiques like the lovely chest. The palette is neutral with soft wall color and jute rug. The scientific charts on the wall add to the nautical, sea captain feel.

Period features figure prominently in every room, like the original fireplace. Its presence is enhanced by the beautiful antique mirror hanging above.

The home is filled with nautical reminders of the sea captain who lived here before the family. Notice the ship model, water charts and Audubon print above. Again a neutral palette and jute rugs allow the many small rooms to blend together seamlessly.
The library is a soft pink. Chairs are upholstered in a fabric with a coral motif and sea inspired rug create a pretty oasis for reading and relaxing.
The completely renovated kitchen is wonderful mix of white cabinetry and soft blue/green island. The counters are honed absolute black granite. Large windows over the sink and a glass door from the foyer flood the space with light.
One of the smaller bedrooms is done in a soothing blue and white palette. Notice the wonderful moulding around the floor to ceiling window which Linda does not hide, but highlights with soft sheer curtains.
Two new bathrooms were created from one of the bedrooms. White beadboard wainscotting and Clarence House wallpaper in La Mere Beige add to the playfulness of this sea captains home.
A small bathroom was moved to make room for a landing library with views of the ocean. Notice the book shelves built above the windows to increase storage space.
Special thanks to Linda Banks for a peek into another gorgeous ocean home which captures both the history of its past with the updated features needed for a family of today.
